Community Service
We helped out at the Sustainable Landscaping Conference and have helped grow food for animals at the Birmingham Zoo. 
Master Gardeners are committed to sharing their expertise and improving their communities through gardening activities. Gardening strengthens neighborhood bonds while beautifying the environment and fostering pride in the community.
One of our major projects is staffing the Gary Gerlach Plant Information Center (GPIC). Housed at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, GPIC is a horticultural information center for visitors at all levels of gardening knowledge. From April through December 2006 Jefferson County Master Gardeners handled over 1100 calls. You can reach the GPIC phones at 205-879-6964 ext. 21 or 22.
