View service requirements. Master Gardeners are recognized for volunteer and education hours through the Reach for the Stars Program. Hours of community service are to be documented and submitted to the Extension Liaison for proper recording by December 30.

Members may now download the Volunteer Service Report forms or enter their volunteer and education hours using the Alabama Master Gardener Service Report System on the ACES web site.

Volunteer Opportunities

Jefferson County Master Gardener Association will host the 2012 Alabama Master Gardener Association Conference. To be held March 22-24 at the Birmingham Marriott and other area venues. Committee chairpersons have been selected and are looking for volunteers. If you would like to help please e-mail amg2012cvols@att.net and request a volunteer application.

Glenwood Volunteers We have the hardscape installed at Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Center. The crushed rock paths were laid courtesy of volunteer attorneys and the composter and arbor constructed by a Boy Scout earning his Eagle Scout rank. The Sensory Garden design is prepared and now it's time for the Master Gardeners to get to work. We will be planting donations of perennials.

Gary Gerlach Plant Information Center (GPIC) needs volunteers. The Gary Gerlach Plant Information Center is a horticultural information center for visitors at all levels of gardening knowledge. You can reach the GPIC phones at 205-879-6964 ext. 21 or 22.

We need to staff two shifts per day, two people per shift,
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM.
Saturday it's two shifts, two people per shift 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM. Sunday it's one shift of two people from 1-4 PM. (Phone answering is optional on weekends.)
